The new Diamante Golf course in Los Cabos just may be the best golf course in all of Mexico. Spectacular is only one of many well deserved adjectives for this golf course and the overall service and quality of the entire facility. The designer Davis Love and Diamante Golf have given us one more reason to come to Mexico to play golf. Diamante golf course recently open in July 2009, the property in located on the sand dunes of the Pacific Ocean which allowed Davis Love to created a course that feels as though you are playing Bandon Dunes and Turnbury in Scotland on the same day. The fairways at Diamante are reasonably generous and the greens are large and undulating but with the wind blowing from the Pacific this is a real test of golf!!! Ratings of 75.4 / 146 from the 7300 yard back tees will give you the idea of difficulty. The number of holes that qualify for a signature hole are numerous, however our vote is for the 17th which is a par five running along the dunes to a very elevated green!! Or possibly the short par three 16th with a diabolical green. Or the 600 yard uphill par five 14th hole. Or …………. |

This is a fun but sometimes difficult, course for the average player and a true test for the low handicap golfer. The course begins with a testing par five that can be reached in two by the long hitters. Number five requires a tee shot of 230 yards to carry a deep arroyo and uphill second a shot to a green tucked behind an other deep arroyo. A par here is like a birdie! From 80 feet up you have a twenty mile view of the ocean and the 12th green which is 200 yards away with the wind blowing. Hit this green and you deserve a free lunch! The 170 yard par three 15th is the signature hole at Cabo Real! The wind usually is in your face as you tee off to a green hanging on the edge of the beach. Any trip to Los Cabos should include a day at Cabo Real. There is a well stocked pro shop and a very friendly and courteous staff Carts only, included in green fee, complementary range balls and water. |

The seventh, a long par five looks down from an elevated tee to narrow fairway that has a 150 foot deep canyon the entire length of the hole. A carry of 235 yards over an arroyo to an elevated green is necessary to have a chance at a par three on the eighth hole. The Mountain nine is the most difficult of the three. You can make an eagle on the par five 4th but it requires a long drive over water and a second shot over more water to a narrow green. The 5th hole is one of the most challenging par fours in Cabo. A double carry over an other deep arroyo may give you a chance at par. The Ocean nine has a mixture of long difficult par fours and tricky demanding holes. The ninth lets you choose how much you want to cut of the tee shot as you cross the arroyo twice before hitting your third shot to a narrow but long elevated green. The management of Palmilla has recently been taken over by Troon Golf, They have brought their usual high standard of quality and service to Palmilla and it shows in the condition of the entire course. Carts only, included in green fee, complementary range balls and water. |
